LISTEN + READ
Presentations, Articles & Studies I’m Looking At, Downloading and Re-posting
Take a look at some of the interesting things I’ve been reading, downloading and re-posting for others to see on my SlideShare account. Unsurprisingly, most of the reads are related to media, technology, culture and life.
Music I’m Listening To
Per the suggestion of my roommate, I recently started using Hype Machine, a website that crowd-sources music bloggers’ suggestions and allows users to listen to and rate the tracks for free.
Interestingly, the model isn’t purely crowd-sourced or user-generated. Rather, it starts with (after the music is written and recorded by the artists, of course) ‘arbiters of taste’ — that is, music bloggers — and then allows general users to promote those tracks which they ‘love’ (which, for me, is too strong of a word). For more about what I mean about ‘arbiters of taste,’ pick up and read Nobrow, a book I recommend below.
To the left of this text, you’ll see some music I’ve listened to recently and ‘loved.’ It’s not a definitive list, but it’ll provide you insight into what I may or may not be listening to at the moment.
10 Books that Changed the Way I Think (in no specific order)
With subjects ranging from sociology and philosophy to fiction and literature, I would recommend any one of these books to any person who aims to expand their thoughts on media, technology, culture and — perhaps most importantly — life.
And, if you buy one of these books from the links below, you’ll help contribute to the financial viability of Living In The Future (which is a good thing!). Regardless, read any one of these books; you won’t regret it!
Note: this list will be subject to change and/or periodic growth. Click on one of the book-cover images to find out more about the book.
